CHP WIC Program

CHP WIC
WIC is a nutrition program that provides health and nutrition education, healthy food and other services free of charge to Massachusetts families who qualify. WIC stands for Women, Infants and Children.

WIC's goal is to help keep pregnant, postpartum and breastfeeding women and kids under age 5 healthy. To do this, WIC provides:
WIC is for all kinds of families: married and single parents, working or not working. You can participate in CHP WIC if you:
  • live in Massachusetts
  • are a child under 5, or a pregnant, postpartum or breastfeeding woman, and
  • have a family income that meets WIC guidelines.


Monthly Workshop Schedule:
  1st Wed: Nutrition & Pregnancy
  2nd Wed: Breastfeeding
  3rd Wed: Baby Food

CHP WIC welcomes men to participate in this program! Fathers and other caregivers of kids under 5 are encouraged to enroll and to bring kids to appointments, attend nutrition and health workshops, and use WIC checks in grocery stores.

CHP WIC is funded by the US Department of Agriculture, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Health and Human Services, the towns of Alford, Egremont, Great Barrington, Monterey, New Marlborough, Otis, Sandisfield, and Sheffield, and other grants and donations.

If you are pregnant, you should count yourself as two.
[If you currently get TAFDC, Food Stamps or MassHealth (Medicaid), you are automatically income eligible. Foster kids under age 5 are also automatically eligible for WIC.]
