The Network serves as a resource to the Western Massachusetts rural health community by providing educational opportunities, sharing best practices and organizational solutions, providing networking opportunities, providing a forum for regional collaboration to increase efficiency, and also serving as an advocacy and educational entity regarding related regional issues.

NRHC began in January 2004 and comprises the following governing members:
  • Community Health Programs (CHP)
  • Fairview Hospital, Great Barrington
  • Hilltown Community Health Centers, Huntington and Worthington
  • Berkshire Health Systems, Pittsfield
  • Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton
The Network serves the greater Berkshire service area, including Berkshire County and the hilltown communities of Hampden and Hampshire Counties.

The Network for Rural Health care is supported in part by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, University of Massachusetts, Worcester. Additional funding is provided by private donations.
